Marilyn has always lived life full-throttle, passionately appreciating each moment while simultaneously planning her next adventure. So in 1978, when a hang gliding accident left her a paraplegic, she refused to be slowed by her new circumstances. In fact, her resiliency inspired a vision for better mobility, leading Marilyn to help pioneer the iconic Quickie line of high-performance wheelchairs. Quickie not only disrupted the mobility industry, but empowered Marilyn – and wheelchair users around the world – to participate in sports, business and active lifestyles.

Marilyn’s success expanded from the business world to the arena of wheelchair sports, as she racked up numerous international and Paralympics championships in tennis, sit-skiing and mono-skiing. She became a role model for kids, founding the coed scouting program, Winners on Wheels, for young wheelchair users. And along the way, she has received many honors, including the prestigious Minerva Award presented by Maria Shriver to women who have made extraordinary contributions to California’s families and communities.

After 21 years, Marilyn retired from the mobility industry – but not from her lifelong passion for empowering people to live their fullest lives. She and her husband, Bob, founded StimDesigns to advance the use of progressive neuromuscular technologies in helping people with recovery, training and fitness. StimDesigns began importing high-performance devices from Novotec Medical in Germany and distributing them throughout North America, while educating the fitness and medical communities about how these devices can be used to improve people’s lives safely and efficiently.
